It is a special honour that our Prefecture has been once more selected by the organisers of the European Chess Clubs Cups to host the men's and women's competitions of the top clubs of the Continent.

From 27 September until 5 October, Rethymnon will be the meeting place of the top chess players of the world, who are expected to play exciting games that will keep on edge spectators and viewers --the innumerable fans of this special sport that promotes meditation and sharpens the mind.

The Prefecture of Rethymnon welcomes the delegations competing in the European Clubs Cups 2003 and applauds their participation in this top event with the wish that we may witness a strong competition and experience strong emotions.
